Texas Climatic Data

Climatic data are important for assessing a location's general suitability for grape production and to appropriately match varieties to the climate. Potential vineyard site assessment should include determination of growing degree-days (heat units), potential for winter cold injury, frost damage, disease incidence and severity, and irrigation requirements. The best single source for Texas climatic data is the National Climatic Data Center which sells several types of climatic reports for individual weather stations. Climatic data for selected locations is available online for free at various websites listed on this page.
