The Texas Winegrape Network is a comprehensive Internet resource providing research-based information and communication services for commercial grape and wine producers. The network comprises the primary informational website that you are currently accessing and the largest international listserv devoted to commercial viticulture, the Viticulture Discussion List. Two special topic websites are also part of the network: the Winegrowing Regions of Texas geographic information system and the SERA-14 website. Descriptions and links to these affiliates are provided below.

Viticulture Discussion List

The purpose of the Viticulture Discussion List is to encourage and facilitate worldwide communications among individuals interested in the commercial production of grapes. The Viticulture list is an international forum for discussion of viticulture production practices, problems, research results, marketing, or industry issues. More than 400 subscribers from over 20 countries are currently participating in the discussion. Participants include grape growers, scientists and educators.

Winegrowing Regions of Texas

Texas has eight American Viticultural Areas, which are federally recognized regions of grape production for wine. The Winegrowing Regions of Texas is an interactive geographic information system that characterizes the eight AVAs of Texas with climatic and soils data.

SERA-14

The Southern Extension Research Activity Information Exchange Group was created to facilitate coordinated research and Extension activities among university faculty and federal researchers in support of commercial viticulture and winemaking in the Southeastern United States.

Awards

The Texas Winegrape Network received the 2003 ASHS Extension Division Educational Materials Award, Website Category, from the American Society for Horticultural Science.
